4 Pictures i could use for my front cover
This image isnt really a good image to use because one i havnt taken the picture myself and also the lighting isnt that good either. if it was someone else in the picture and i had been the photographer then i would have been more able to use the image as my front cover.
This image is also a good picture and would have been perfect for my front cover but the only issue i have with it is the fact that i didnt take the picture myself.
This image is a really good action shot and has a very high oppurtunity to be used as my front cover due to its unique style, also i did take the picture myself which means i know how and what i should edit to make the picture more suitable for a front cover.
This is also a really great action shot because its a similar picture but it is at a different angle which gives it a different effect to the image, this could be used as a front cover image but i will have to decide between the one above and this one.
Advantages of having different shots: Having different shots means i have a wider range of shots to use for my front cover, which means i could choose the best one to use instead of being stuck with only one choice, also it means i could edit the images seperatly and choose which one looks the best or i could edit where all the images will be on the front cover of the magazine.
Disadvantages: The disadvantages of having more than one shot is that i will be spending more time editting each picture and that could consume a large amount of time depending on how i want to edit them. Also it means i will have to spend time choosing and judging which image would be the best image to use for my front cover.

Font research
I went onto www.dafont.com and looked at what kind of fonts I could use for my magazine cover. These are the results I found.
Plan for Front Cover of sixth form/school magazine
From my results of the survey I have chosen to use bright/primary colours so it stands out to the audience if it was placed next to other magazines.
I have and haven't stuck to the conventions of magazine covers because the typography/font size adheres to the conventions of other magazines but my image isn't going to be the main attraction for the magazine cover.
For the main image, I think I will have a controversial image to attract an audience because it will relate to the selling line "Break out of the norm", thus making the audience realise the magazine will actually relate to the title.

Analysis of Maclife cover in terms of layout and imagery
The cover of this magazine is actually really good at gaining some form of audience because it is quite eye catching, the visual hierarchy of this image would have to be the black writing that says "Is our campus safe?" because one, the font stands out from the rest of the cover and also the fact that it is direct address towards the audience it would get the people passing by thinking. The size of the font also contributes to its hierarchy amongst the rest of the cover.
After the main headline/theme of the magazine, I think the title of the magazine has the secondary visual hierarchy because it is the biggest font on the cover but because it almost merges into the colour scheme of the whole magazine cover it doesn't contrast as much as the headline does. The colour scheme of the magazine is quite cool and calm, which may represent the audiences social group, or may just be quite light so it stands out to the audience if it was placed next to other school magazines.
Comparing this to the Vocalize magazine (issue 5) I think the vocalize magazine will attract more of an audience because there was a lot of smiling faces on the cover which almost welcomes the audience to read with a smile, also the font of the title is quite edgy/modern which will most likely attract a younger audience aged 13-16, for both males and females.

Analysis of a survey taken by sixth form students for a sixth form magazine
I made a survey and asked a few people to answer it so i can get a better idea about what to put in a sixth form magazine
From this graph I can see that a lot of people usually go out and socialize during they're free time, along side with homework being one of the highest results. Looking at my results I think I should base the magazine around social/educational content.
This pie chart shows me what sports people do, so if I do put a sport section in, I know what kind of sport content to put in.
This graph shows me what kind of music genre I should include in the sixth form magazine, this will help me attract my target audience.
This chart will help me a lot in the making of the magazine because it shows me what kind of colour scheme I should use to attract the target audience.
